Use of Funds

Over the past three years, we have contributed more than $400,000.00 to MD Anderson Cancer Center. We were able to distribute 78% of our fundraising directly to MD Anderson for their use. The funds are used to accomplish the following:

  1. Fund initial clinical trial research to provide the data necessary for MD Anderson to apply for further, multimillion dollar research grants.

  2. Establish the fourth Neurofibromatosis tissue bank in the nation, a necessary link in the research of this genetic disease.

  3. Host an annual Christmas in July party of the in-hospital patients at the Children's Hospital.

  4. Pay the expenses of two Team “Making Cancer History” Race Across America teams.

  5. Pay the expenses for an annual Tour de Kids Bike Ride at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration “NASA” facility. We envision that this event will become a significant component of our MD Anderson fundraising efforts.

The Laboratory and Administrative requirements of Clinical Trials cost about $6,000 per patient. Funds from Team “Making Cancer History” allow these trials to begin on an expedited basis, without having to wait for lengthy grant application processes. A general breakdown of these costs is illustrated below.
